The founder of HOMES Water Inc, Darian Petrisca, P.Eng (Consulting Engineer), was born into a life of environmental awareness and sustainable development. His father, renown Canadian sculptor and environmental advocate, Josef Petriska, lived through World War II and the aftermath, where resources were scarce and reusing/recycling everything was a necessity for survival. It highlighted our dependence on nature to sustain us, as well as the critical need to protect it. This mentality was ingrained in Darian’s upbringing; wasting (anything) was not tolerated.
A turning point for Darian occurred in May 2000, when the E. coli outbreak in Walkerton, Ontario, occurred, killing 6 people and sickening more than 2000 from their contaminated water supply. This event prompted him to focus on protecting our water resources and in September that year, entered the Environmental Engineering program at the University of Guelph. After graduating, Darian started working for ZENON Environmental Inc. and for the next 5 years, traveled across the globe commissioning municipal/industrial water and wastewater treatment facilities of varying sizes and complexities (UF/MF drinking water, water reuse, membrane bioreactors - MBRs, industrial effluent, etc.) throughout the US, Canada, Mexico, Europe, UK, Australia, New Zealand, the Middle East and Africa. |
Petrisca working at Algeria's 200,000 m³/day Hamma Seawater Desalination (RO) Plant

He spent 8 months working in Algeria, as part of the process commissioning and start-up team for the GE Water led consortium at the Hamma Water Desalination plant in Algiers. This 200,000 m³/day, $340 M CAD, reverse osmosis (RO) seawater desalination drinking water facility was the largest in Africa at the time.
Desiring a little more challenge, Darian changed direction and accepted a position with Veolia Water and immigrated to Paris, France in October 2008. The role focused on process engineering & business development for municipal and industrial sectors in Eastern & Central Europe. Darian supported and lead numerous business units across Europe to win new contracts, design & engineering of water & wastewater technologies, project execution, while managing and communicating with diverse teams in 6 different languages. He would later move into a role with Veolia which focused on clean energy: anaerobic digestion and biogas technologies. After 4 years of living in Paris, Darian returned to Canada working with Veolia Canada, developing the mobile water treatment market in North America. In 2013 he began leading Suez’s industrial business development in Canada, focusing on heavily contaminated water & waste processing using advanced technologies & processes.
In 2017, he founded HOMES Water Inc. a professional engineering services company, with the focus of providing industrial & commercial companies with new ideas, strategies, perspectives and solutions for smart water & energy management, to better understand their overall environmental impacts. The ultimate goal of HOMES Water Inc. is to prove to its Clients that the positive financial benefits of eliminating environmental impacts, will pay off significantly in the long run. HOMES Water Inc. now consults for Fortune 500 companies, as well as companies like Deloitte, BCG and McKinsey & Co, on innovative strategies in the water & alternative energy sectors. HOMES Water Inc. engages with and provides services to large multinational corporations in Canada, the US and abroad.
Darian continues to grow HOMES Water Inc. in Oakville, Ontario, by developing, promoting sustainable development strategies, innovative engineering solutions and technologies; trying to ensure that his own two small children, will have clean water and a healthy environment to enjoy in their future.
